Maariv Before Sunset: Maariv Before Sunset
“Plag mincha” falls 75 minutes before nightfall. According to the Shulchan Aruch, the interval between plag mincha and nightfall can serve for either mincha or maariv, but not both.
Nonetheless, it is customary in many communities to daven both mincha and maariv within this interval.
In this mini-series, we will examine the sources that underlie the leniency that these communities follow.
A source sheet is available both in WORD format and pdf through the links. In class we will translate and explain the sources.
