This series with Rabbi Dovid Fink explores the halachic background to the following question: Do you own your body? If yes, you have the right, for example, to sell your organs. If halacha rejects ownership of the human body, things like marketing organs is prohibited. The ramifications of this question are immense.

First, we will study the opinion of R. Shlomo Zevin. He held that the human body belongs to Gd, not to its inhabitant.
His opinion leads to the conclusion that marketing human tissues and organs is prohibited. Further, his opinion greatly limits human autonomy.
Next week we study the opposing opinion of R. Shaul Yisraeli.
