Children and Kashrut
This series with Rabbi Dovid Fink explores the practical application of kashrut laws for children who have not yet reached bar or bat mitzvah. As we examine rules such as waiting between meat and dairy, students and parents will gain clarity on how to instill kosher habits in daily life while understanding when leniencies are allowed.
Children and Kashrut: Children and Kashrut
We will focus on three issues:
- Ḥinnukh — What are parents required to do to accustom their children to keep the laws of kashrut?
2. Can you allow or even enable your children to eat non-kosher food outside your home?
3. How long must children wait between eating meat and eating cheese or drinking milk?
A source sheet is available in both WORD format and pdf through the links. In class we will translate and explain the sources.
