Hello Everyone,
My name is Stuart Fischman and I am writing to welcome you to the series of shiurim on the Korbanot- the sacrifices brought in the Beit haMikdash.
It has been about two thousand years since we have brought sacrifices in the Beit haMikdash. Indeed it would be fair to say that Judaism as we know it is practiced very differently from the way it was so long ago.
It seems to me that it would be appropriate to ask, to take one example, how many women would find meaning in going to the Temple after having a child to sacrifice a sheep and a pigeon?
But this is precisely the point that I hope we will clarify in this series of classes. What are we saying to Hashem at the conclusion of the Shmoneh Esrei prayer “. ושם נעבדך ביראה כשנים קדמוניו” We are promising that we will engage in the Temple service.
So in these shiurim I hope that together we will find meaning in this essential aspect of our religion that we have lost and pray to retrieve.
Thank you
Stuart Fischman
