Agency (having someone else act for you) is a fundamental principle in halacha.
For example, you can appoint an agent (שליח) to buy food for you in the market. When the agent buys the food, it belongs to you and not to the agent.
Similarly in performing mitsvot, you can have an agent (שליח) light Hanukka candles for you. When the agent lights the candles, you fulfill the mitsva and not the agent.
In this class we will survey the opinions of the leading poskim regarding appointing someone to pray for you.
A source sheet is available in both WORD format and pdf through the links. In class we will translate and explain these sources.
