Last week we learned the Rambam’s writings on Olam Habah. The Rambam holds that the ultimate reward is in the existence of the נפש after death.
Many, many authorities disagreed vehemently with the Rambam, primarily because they felt that the Rambam was giving short shrift to the existence of the righteous in the world of resurrection.
So tomorrow we will study what Rav Sadiah Gaon wrote about the resurrection as being the existence of final reward. Of course Rav Sadiah Gaon lived many years before the Rambam but I think that it is his view on the subject that represents the view of the Rambam’s opponents.
Rav Sadiah Gaon’s teaching on this subject is to be found in chapters 6-9 of his book הנבחר באמונות ודעות. The book was written in Judeo-Arabic and I am posting the relevant pages from the translation of Rav Kaffach zt”l.
