We begin with the principle Talmudic sources that prohibit playing musical instruments on Shabbat and Yom Tov.
Then we will study the principle opinions of the medieval authorities (Rishonim).
On this basis, we will proceed next week to an understanding of how modern poskim apply the prohibition.
