The world of prayer, Olam HaTefilah, encompasses many important practical daily halachic topics and situations. In this in-depth course Rabbi David Brofsky will begin from the sources, tracing the development of the Halacha through today, including practical questions of our time.
Some of the topics this course will cover include: Is tefilah a Torah or a Rabbinic commandment, women and tefilah, minyan, mechitza, kavanna, times and direction for tefilah, mistakes in tefilah, nusach, changes to the standard text of tefilah, repeating words in tefilah, women’s aliyot, the Halachic feasibility of partnership minyanim and more.
Rabbi David Brofsky is the author of halakhic compendiums on Tefilla, Moadim and Avelut. He teaches at Midreshet Lindenbaum and Midreshet Torah V’Avodah, and he writes a weekly shiur for Yeshivat Har Etzion’s Virtual Beit Midrash (VBM). Rabbi Brofsky also serves as the Rabbinic Liaison for Giyur K'Halacha.
