Welcome to these two sessions on the subject of the Yud Gimmel Middot. The Yud Gimmel Middot are an essential portion of the Selichot prayers that we during the days preceding Rosh Hashana, during the Aseret Yomei Teshuva and on Yom Kippur itself.
What are these Yud Gimmel Middot? Why are they so significant? I hope to answer these and other questions in these two sessions.

Hello Everyone,
Last week we spoke about the meaning of the “Thirteen Attributes” of Hahem’s mercy. Today we will learn about the Halachot regarding our recitation of these verses from the Torah. While some authorities saw no objection to a person sayingthese verses privately as part of their prayers, other authorities saw these verses as being of special sanctity and so they may only be said as part of communal prayer. This second opinion became the accepted practice.
Rabbi Dr. Stuart Fischman graduated from Yeshiva University in 1980 and the dental school of Columbia University in 1985. In 1989 he began studying and teaching at Yeshivat Hamivtar and now studies and teaches at Yeshivat Machanaim in Efrat. He has rabbinic ordination from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg.
