Hello Everyone,

Picking out  ארבעה מינים  really means determining if the  ארבעה מינים  being offered to you are kosher. Determining the  the kashrut of  ארבעה מינים  requires both knowledge both of what is written in the books of Halacha as well as visual knowledge; the knowledge to discern if what one sees is what is described in the texts. Fortunately there are several books available  which teach the Halachot of  ארבעה מינים along color photographs which display the the various flaws which can make one of the  ארבעה מינים invalid. I have posted on the website of today’s class very valuable illustrations from the book כשרות ארבעת הינים written by Rav Yechiel Michel Shtern.

I advise everyone to purchase either this book or any other book on  ארבעה מינים which has clear illustrations since this is the only way to truly understand these Halachot.

I also advise viewing on YouTube the classes of Rav Yosef Tzvi Rimon on how to purchase   ארבעה מינים.

ארבעה מינים are a beautiful mitzvah and I hope that today’s class will help us all to fulfill our obligation.

Thank you.

Hello Everyone

This evening will be our second and final discussion on how to select  ארבעת המינחם. As I mentioned last week. to elect  ארבעת מינים  requires both knowledge of the relevant texts but practical experience, that is to say being taught how to identify the various defects which may render something invalid. Therefore I implore everyone to purchase  ארבעת מינים which have reliable certificates of  כשרות. Alternatively , bring your  ארבעת מינים to a rabbi who can check them.
