Several powerful examples of God’s teshuvah exist in Torah literature. This Elul join Rabbi Avraham Shira and learn teshuvah from Hashem’s teshuvah, as it appears in His own words and through the pure filters of the great minds of Jewish history.
The conclusions we will reach may shock and most importantly, renew our bond with Hashem. Elul is for all of us, a conclusion of the old year, and the beginning of building the new.

Tonight, we look at Tehilim 106.45, where God is outraged by their rebellious behavior, and then relents against his stern judgment and softens his approach when He remembers his covenant, and faithfulness. H ‘remembers’ the agreement with who? Why? The Torah insists, they were intentionally rebellious. What does that look like for religious people who keep mitzvot? Is God’s approach different f0r other people? How does that compare to our own ‘rebellious’ moments?, especially as we approach Rosh `haShana.?

Class description
Rabbi Avraham Shira received smicha from Rabbi Benayahu Shmueli, Rosh Yeshivat HaMekubalim, Nahar Shalom, in Jerusalem. He has been a student and teacher in the Yeshiva since 1993. Since 1996 he has taught for twelve years at the Berot Bat Ayin Seminary, specializing in Likutei Moharan, and conducting workshops in meditation, and spiritual creative writing. He has also received a Masters Degree in Clinical Sociology & Family Therapy from the University of North Texas, Neve Yerushalayim Campus. Rabbi Shira has published a novel and translates a newsletter for Nahar Shalom. He lives with his wife, Elisheva and their five children in Bat Ayin, Gush Etzion.
