The Torah After Mashiach

Hello Everyone,

This series of three sessions on the eternal and immutable nature of our Torah is based on the principles of the Rambam. Last week we saw passages from the Talmud which teach that there is at least one teacher in  the Talmud who may have held that at some time in the future the mitzvot of the Torah will be abrogated. Christian missionaries made much of this possible, isolated opinion. The Rambam and other authorities clearly rejected it.

If Jesus was the first false Messiah to claim the authority to do away with the Torah the last and perhaps most notorious false Messiah was Shabtai Tzvi.  Shabtai Tzvi  quoted a passage from a relatively obscure Midrash to substantiate his authority to do away with the Torah’s laws.

Today we will see this  Midrash as well as others which indicate that Hashem will teach a “new” Torah and how non-heretics (like us) understand these Midrashim.
