WebYeshiva.org is thrilled to announce the launch of our latest online study program, the Machshava Mastery Program (MMP), available to Jewish men and women of all backgrounds!
Participants who join the Machshava Mastery Program will learn about the lives of our greatest Jewish philosophers and the major philosophical questions which they have grappled with from the medieval period till today. The Machshava Mastery Program will provide participants with the language and knowledge to discuss Judaism’s major philosophical debates, while participants will also learn how each particular philosophical debate was influenced and shaped by the historical time period and context from which it emerged.
Those who complete Machshava Mastery will understand the core philosophical contributions of our great Jewish philosophers, and they will be able to explain the major issues associated with fundamental Jewish beliefs and philosophies.
The goal of this program – modelled on our successful Halacha Mastery Program (HMP) – is to enable participants to learn about the central ideas that shape Jewish thought, and to encounter the lives and works of Judaism’s greatest philosophers. By doing so, participants will master the material of the most important debates in classic and modern Jewish philosophy.
The MMP takes place over 4 semesters spanning 2 years (asynchronous students can cover the course work at their own pace), with two required survey courses, and an additional four elective courses from our Jewish Thinker and Machshava Sugyot offerings. Participants will receive background reading and source material to accompany each class; exams are administered to demonstrate mastery and personal achievement, resulting in a course certificate.
