Eating on Tisha B’Av

The title of this shiur is “Eating on Tisha B’Av.” I think that most people know that (a) Tish B’Av is a fast day when we do not eat and that (b) anyone who is ill must consult with both their physician and their rabbi to see if they may fast.

Since most people know this already what is there for me to talk about?

I will focus on a teshuvah of the  בנין ציון  ( who while not as famous as he ought to be had a very famous student- rabbi Shimshon Raphael Hirsch). The  בנין ציון wrote a letter to a person who felt guilty for not fasting on Yom Kippur. This teshuvah is a very good introduction (in my opinion) to the subject of fasting.
