Whistling on Shabbat

Whistling on Shabbat

Unlike playing musical instruments, whistling on Shabbat and holidays is a completely different kind of noise that requires a separate discussion. Join Rabbi Dovid Fink as he discusses when whistling is permitted and when it is not, learning from the sources in the Gemara down through today’s leading poskim.

Whistling on Shabbat: Lesson
Class description

Who would have thought that the rabbis devote so much time and effort to discussing whistling on Shabbat and all week long?

In this series we will survey the opinion of the great poskim, opening a window to their decision-making methods.

Hebrew sources are available through the links in both WORD format and pdf. In class we will translate and explain these sources.
