Tu B’Shvat: Flora as a Metaphor for the Jewish People

In this course with Rabbi Yehoshua Geller we will discuss how the Torah describes the Jewish people using flora as a metaphor. We will learn about the meaning behind these metaphors, and will discuss the quotes where these metaphors can be found, in depth. We will also touch on the history and importance of Tu B’Shvat, using textual sources.

Rabbi Yehoshua Geller received Smicha from Rav Mordechai Elefant zt"l and the ITRI Yeshiva, where he was a Talmid for many years. He served as the Rosh Beit Medrash of the English Speakers' Program at the Jerusalem College of Technology/Machon Lev, Rabbi Geller has also taught at Yeshivat Yam HaTalmud and Yeshivat Hamivtar. Rabbi Geller holds an M.A. in Hebrew Studies.
