The Spark of Mashiach & Tisha b'Av

The Spark of Mashiach & Tisha b'Av

Span the history of the soul and spark of Mashiach from the beginning of creation until the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem. Join Rabbi Avraham Shira and explore the emergence and role of this soul at critical times in human and Jewish history. We will refine our understanding of the Sage’s teachings that there is a Messianic soul in every generation, and how every Jewish soul contains a spark of the original ‘Master Soul.’ Explore the promises, signs and wonders to look forward to, as the history of this soul continues to unfold in the present and future of our people.

Shalom and welcome to the second week of our Summer Zman on Webyeshiva.  The Spark of Messiah is our subject as it leads us to the Temple and its Destruction on Tisha b’Av.  The more we understand, the more we understand we don’t really understand how deep and united these concepts are.  Last we focused on the Messiah notion, its beginning in the first moments of Creation, its chief trait, self-sacrifice, the Divine Sacrifice of to create this Universe, and all its endless inhabitants.

Tonight we will look at the migration of this spark through the human race, beginning with Adam and moving through Hevel, Noah, Abraham, and eventually King David.    Included in our discussion  will be a look at the Messianic spirit in the soon to be created Royal Family of Am Yisrael, the family of Avraham Avinu.

It is a priveledge to learn and share this Torah with you.  Hope to see you there.

Shalom and Welcome to our series on the Roots of Mashiach and Tisha b”Av.  Tonight we ask simply, Who was Terach?  How did this idololatrous capitalist become the father of the Patriarch of Monotheism?  From where was the spark of his Soul?  Why did Hashem cause the greatest of the greatest to be born from such a lowly place?

We will also attempt to describe who were Terach’s friends and their position to a monotheist in an idolotrous world?  And how does all of this relate to the Mashiach and Tisha b”Av?

Come join us, tonight, 8pm Israel on WebYeshiva.org, and help us unravel part of the tapestry of the ancients, and how their lives and lessons teach and  iluminate us to this day, about the greatness of our Creator, and the perfection with which he runs creation.

Shalom and Welcome.  Tonight on Web Yeshiva, 8pm Israel time, we will continue our journey through the roots of the Messianic spark that emerged through the generations of the Jewish people by looking at the story of Lot, nephew of Avraham Avinu.  Many questions arise, why would the spark of Mashiach enter the world through Lot and the events after the destruction of Sodom and Ammorah?  Why did Avraham Avinu risk his life and that of his followers to save Lot from the 5 Kings?  Who was this man?  What quality did he bring to the generations to come through him, and his great grand-daughter Ruth the Moabite?

We will look at these questions and others, and with time and strength and Hashem’s help, meditate on these ideas to help us integrate the Torah and its ideas.

Shalom and Welcome.  Tonight’s discussion will center around why Ruth, the daughter of Balak, King of Moab, and why she was chosen to be the great-grandmother of Mashiach.  The discussion invokes the classic argument of Nature versus Nurture, and how Hashem, (master of both Nature and Nuture) has designed mankind and the Jewish people to be able to exist in a world of free choice.  Is nature all free choice? Is nurture all genetic programming?   How does this influence the course of history as pertains to God’s choice of Ruth as this holy inspired Grandmother of the Messiah?

We will engage these questions and others, and hopefully meditate upon them together, tonight, 8pm Israel, at Webyeshiva.org.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Shalom and Welcome.  Tonight, we will look at Ruth and David as figures that transcend suffering as a means to personal greatness.  This idea is at the core of the Messianic spark, and is a theological problem for many who would prefer no suffering and no greatness.  This idea will be explored in the context of being born creatures of free choice, yet born ‘against our will’.  Why did Ruth and David transcend where others failed?  How does that guide us to a clear lens onto the phenomena of the spark of Mashiach in every soul.

Look forward to seeing you there, 8pm Israel.

Shalom and Welcome.

Tonight is the last class of our Spark of Mashiach and Tisha b’Av class.  We will begin with the Godly act of embracing contradictions, which is embodied in the idea of the Sages that The Day the Temple was destroyed is the Day the Mashiach is born.  We will also explore the contradictions inherent in what are called ‘The Days of Mashiach”, as prophesied in the Talmud.   With time permitting we will also attempt to meditate on a most rewarding meditation, which is identifying our own contradictions and empowering ourselves to embrace and solve them in our hearts and minds.

Look forward to seeing all of you.
