Handling Pets on Shabbat III and Lice I: Next we will deal with killing lice on Shabbat. I know that this might not be the most appetizing topic. Nonetheless it is very important because it involves a conflict between the Talmudic sources and modern science. It is in this context that the poskim discuss the problem of conflict between science and halacha. We shall examine their approaches.

Opening Containers on Shabbat I: Opening containers (cans, tins, bottles with various types of seals, paper wrapped packets, etc.) is a complicated issue with a spectrum of opinions. We will look at the principle sources in the Gemara and the Rishonim. On that basis we will survey the opinions of the great contemporary poskim. A link with source materials has been sent to all participants.
