Halachot of Income & Charity: Lesson 1
We will survey the opinions of the leading poskim defining the obligation of giving one tenth (a “tithe”) of one’s income for charity. What exactly is required? How exactly does one calculate the amount to be given? To whom should the money be given? For what purposes can the money be spent? In our first class, we will outline the maximum and the minimum to be given for charity as well as the ideal amount.
