Connecting Poland and the Land of Israel
Connecting Poland and the Land of Israel: Lesson 1
Live from Poland… How did the Jews get to Poland? Looking at Nobel laureate S.Y. Agnon’s collection “Sippurei Polin” (Tales of Poland), we’ll explore the connection to the place which was the cradle of Jewish life for so many of us, and the connection (and disconnection) between the “Old Country” and Eretz Yisrael, the old generation and the new, tradition and modernity. Links at the right to Agnon’s well-known story “Maaseh HaEz” in English and Hebrew translation. (This is also a “coming attraction” to the special Agnon series to be broadcast live from Agnon’s Jerusalem home starting February 6th – see www.WebYeshiva.org/Agnon for more details and to sign-up).
