Class description

First, we will study the basic sources that explain the prohibition of reciting Gd’s name in an unnecessary blessing (ברכה לבטלה).

Then, we will apply those sources to understand the status of silent blessings that are recited in your mind but not actually said out loud.

Further, we will use those sources to understand the status of blessings in other languages and blessings that do not conform to the standard texts (e.g., “May the Lord grant you long life and health”).

Sources are available through the links in both WORD format and pdf. In class we will translate and explain these sources.
